Sat, March 25, 5:30 - View a special screening of "The Six Triple Eight" documentary at the Museum of Photographic Art (MOPA) in Balboa Park. Tickets are available through Eventbrite and must be purchased in advance.
The 6888th Central Postal Directory Battalion, known as the Six Triple Eight, was the only all-Black Female Battalion to serve in Europe during WWII. Confronted with racism and sexism from their own leadership and troops, they cleared a backlog of over 17 million pieces of mail ensuring troops stayed in touch with their loved ones back home. On March 14th, 2022, President Biden signed into law a Congressional Gold Medal to recognize the women of the 6888th.
A Q&A panel with co-producer Retired Army Colonel Edna W. Cummings, and family members of the 6888th, will follow the screening.
