Prop 50
Election Rigging Response Act
Indivisible49 supports CA Proposition 50, the Election Rigging Response Act
The road to fair-representation and anti-gerrymandering reform goes through Prop 50. We can all help by volunteering now and Getting Out The Vote in October.
Key Dates
Early October - Ballots delivered
Oct 7 - Ballot drop-off begins
Oct 20 - Last day to register to vote for the Nov 4 Statewide Special Election
Oct 25 - Vote centers open for early in-person voting
Nov 4 - Election Day
The Election Rigging Response Act temporarily changes how voting districts are drawn in California as a defensive step against partisan gerrymandering in other states, which could otherwise let one party unfairly lock in control of Congress and disenfranchise California voters.
Prevent unfair advantage - Prop 50 is a time limited fix that blunts the extreme gerrymanders elsewhere so that voters can decide control of Congress.
Stop Trump’s power grab - Without Prop 50, rigged districts in red states can lock in control of the House no matter how people vote.
Elect pro-reform champions - Winning seats now puts lawmakers who support fair voter maps into office, essential to passing lasting national standards.
Pass federal protections - With a reform-minded majority, enact a federal fair-maps law to end gerrymandering and strengthen voting rights protections for everyone.
